All purpose, economical, reliable vehicle
After over a year of looking for the right vehicle for my way of being in the world, I kept coming back to the Outback. I garden, hike, camp, have dogs, ride a bicycle, and kayak. This car accommodates it all. I bought my 2011 Outback as a used vehicle still under warranty. It has sturdy rubber mats front, back, and in the rear cargo area. My kayak rack fit very nicely on the existing rack, which I felt was not adequate for long drives with a kayak or two on top. My bicycle fits inside the car when the back seats are down. The leather seats are easy to keep clean, though not a good idea for my Golden Retriever. Her weight and nails cause depressions in the leather. Easy solution: a doggie gate that fits between the back seat the the cargo area. The cargo area is large and comfortable for my two dogs and they are safer, too. The gas mileage has hovered around 30 mph including in town and road driving. I have no regrets about this purchase and plan to drive this car for many years.
