1999 Toyota Camry X/LE
Best vehicle I have owned in 55 years. Dependable, reliable, no major repairs ever. Has a smooth ride on long trips, plenty of zip on acceleration for large city driving, that luxury car feel of "old days", with good lumbar support bucket seats, handles great on snow and ice. Handles great on road overall (i.e., parking, maneuvering easily in heavy traffic). Feels solid/safe; not like economy type cars. Steering wheel handles smoothly with tire movement. Does not consume oil; gets average gas mileage. Steady as a rock. Best Toyota Sedan body style throughout the years—have no idea who decided it was a good idea to make Camry a small car like the Corolla. Used to be that if you wanted a higher quality car, you could purchase the Toyota Camry to get the bigger body and more luxury car—for some years now, Toyota has been spinning out ugly dome-shaped Camry's and Corolla's—that are a piece of junk (I know this because I have had both of these cars, and no longer drive them—and chose to keep my older 1999 Toyota Camry. Think I'll keep this car and make best friend's with my mechanic until one of the car companies comes to their senses again (as it is not just Toyota that have compromised their products the past 10 years). Or, perhaps if the car companies don't clean their act up soon with respect to quality manufacturing and enticing product design; maybe all of us baby boomers will start using the cab services.
