2006 Corolla
This has been a surprisingly durable and economic car which is a good thing because we don't have a lot of cash to sink into repairs. With the 4 cylinder stick shift, we still get around 38 mpg combined city/highway after 145,000 miles. We feel especially happy with the mileage because we're saving money and we aren't contributing as many greenhouse gases as before. And once we get the air bags replaced (recall), we will feel safer. However, the road noise does bother me and is hard on my hearing. More sound insulation would help, I believe. The only other substantive complaint that we have is the rather frail front bumper and its attachment clips. The entire front bumper assembly acts like it could come unhinged when I push on it. We hope to run this car for awhile yet, or at least until the current Corolla model changes its rakish and angry-looking front grill. The design also reminds us of an oceanic filter-feeder.
