Love it! Love it! LOVE IT!

I absolutely love my Prius! Her name is Scarlett O'Hybrid. Scarlett has never given me any grief since day one. She has been dependable as the day is long. I love her electronic key features and her ability to alert me if anything isn't quite kosher, from tire pressure to trying to lock the key inside, etc. etc. Her gas mileage is fantastic. I love that she only takes regular gas and how often I don't go to the filling station. I can't say enough good things about her. I look forward to a great and long lasting relationship!

Am amazingly roomy cargo area.

We are able to load two power scooters plus luggage for three people and two dogs. The mileage enables us to visit family in the Midwest frequently in comfort.

2010 Prius 2 Review

If I could, I would give this vehicle a 4.5 stars. We thoroughly enjoy driving it. I am 6 feet tall with long legs and this is the only car of any make, since the early '70s, that I have driven in and owned that provides more then enough leg room behind the steering wheel. I even have to move the seat slightly forward from the farthest backward extension of the seat. Head room is great. It handles curves very well. You feel like you are driving both a sports car and a family car. Depending on where we drive, from level terrain to hilly even mountainous terrain, the miles per gallon average is 45 to 60. Freeway and in city driving mph is 53-60. The reason I only give it a 4.5 stars is because of the three negatives we have found. The frame is too close to the ground so you must stay on good developed roads or it will bottom out. Visibility in front is poor i.e. it is very difficult to judge how close you are to up close things like vehicles, parking up close to cement blocks in straight in parking are examples, These two difficulties can be overcome with practice, however. But, the worse problem (as a driver) is looking over your right shoulder trying to see if any traffic is in the right lane or approaching from the right side and in backing up. For those models with backup cameras, there is some benefit. But, from the back side panels near the back seat head rests to the rear window there is basically no visibility for about three feet. That leaves you with a dangerous blind spot. The only way to try to overcome this issue is to take a lot of time and cranking your head and body all over the place to make sure your blind spot is safe. But, to be fair, I have test driven many models of both U.S. and foreign makes that have the same rediculous design problem. If you drove in the '50s and '60s, you will remember that none of these problems existed in cars. Perhaps one day manufacturers will incorporate better designs and new products, some that already exist, that provide clear visibility and strenght. Unfortunately, these are design problems that are kept to please buyers instead of safety issues that must be corrected. We still like the Prius. Until and if and when a better car with better mileage and safety design comes along, we will stay with the prius.

2010 Prius

My Prius has lived up to the hype. I have had no mechanical problems ever and the reliability is everything they say. I have driven to Missouri and back 4 times while maintaining high mileage and smooth ride at high speeds. I only gave it 4 stars because I'm getting to an age where it is becoming more difficult for me to get in and out of the car. But that's not the cars fault.

Best car ever

1. Solar sun roof since discontinued. Automatically keeps inside temp the same as outside. No returning to super hot car. Opens for fresh air 2. Practical. Seats five. Back seats fold down to easily carry six foot by forty inch cargo. Split seats allow child car seat on one-third of the back seat and two thirds down for cargo (like the family dog). 3. Great gas mileage 45 mpg city; 50 mpg highway; no stress when stuck In traffic and running on the battery. Plenty of zip.

I really like this car. Great gas mileage and comfortable ride. It is not a sporty model but is very well behaved in handling and performance.

2010 Prius? Maybe

While it seems to be a good car, we just got it back for the second time in 2 years with the same problem with the hybrid drive. Toyota has extended the warranty for this problem for 15 years, which is good that they have extended it, bad that it has happened twice in two years. They also discovered a leak in the timing cover gasket, which sounds like a small problem, but turns out to be much larger than it seems. Especially since the car has only 78000 miles with all recommended service done on it. Not a comfortable car for extended trips.

dependable

Love my Prius. This is the 5th one I have bought. Never had a break down. Mostly driven in the city. Love the fact that gas station stops are infrequent. Has plenty of power. Is easy to park. Comfortable.

Best car we've ever had in fifty years of owning cars

We currently own two other vehicles besides the 2010 Prius; a convertible Solara and a Tundra. The Solara is a fun car for nice weather. It is not practical for hauling little kids around in car seats. We need the Tundra for pulling a horse trailer and for yard debris and DIY home improvement projects. We have owned station wagons, SUVs, coupes, sedans, and other pickups over last fifty years. Our Prius is the best, all-around car--ever. It seats five including two car seats. The solar panels keep our dogs ventilated and us too. The seats easily fold down to carry boxes or other supplies up to six feet long (five feet without poking into the front seats) without getting wet. Before, I would have to wrap cargo in a tarp to carry in the bed of the pickup. The ride is solid, and the car holds the road on windy I-205 bridge crossings. Visibility is good. Plenty of power for climbing hills, accelerating/merging onto freeways. Reliability is great. Then there's the fuel economy that makes stuck in traffic easier to bear; it isn't burning gasoline when idling. It's cute and practical. No vehicle does everything. We don't expect the Prius to haul a horse around or seat six people. It's perfect for what it does day after day of errands and commuting and weekend jaunts to the beach.
