Beautiful to this day!
I purchased the dealer's low mileage ((16,000 miles) 2004 Toyota Camry in 2007. It has been amazing, the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned and as a senior, I have had several other of the popular "makes" in my life. When observed visually by others, they are shocked that it is 18 years old! No one can get over the smooth and comfortable drive. The odometer reading is just 129,000 miles but mostly typical local driving, to work and back, shopping. However, I have made many long distance trips, 500- 2,000 miles, carrying as many as 5 passengers. 5 years ago, I was broadsided. The whole side, windows, doors, headlight, bumper, etc. needed replacement per assessment by my insurance adjustor. The damage was quite significant, totaling over $6,000. He said he and his wife owned only Toyota's, one they replaced after hitting 350,000 miles. (only because body rusted out) It was still running! Quote; "Other than the external damage, your Camry is in mint condition!" Now 2022, I continue to faithfully have it serviced. Other than the typical repairs, brakes, finally a new muffler and few rust spots on my trunk (living in upstate NY-snow and salt on roads) it has been loyal to me and visa versa. I will close by using some humor and the point I made when reminded by a Toyota dealership salesman as he lists all the new bells and whistles in an attempt to woo me to purchase a new one, I say "Thank you, however, looks and functions can be attractive, sure, but inner beauty for me is most needed. Looks can be deceiving." (2004 model) I am from the Woodstock era, own a simple cell phone, no desire or need for additional features that others may want and that's fine." Then I asked if the new models had a dual cassette & CD player like mine? (No, mine was the last model). Exactly my point and we both laughed!
